Zee Best turned out to be, well, zee best. Ever since they opened in 1983, they have been known for their bakery and breakfast, which is served everyday until 2pm. Where else on the island can you get breakfast after noon? Everything on their menu looked mouth-watering and I admit we had a hard time deciding which one to order… omelettes, French toasts, crepes. Eventually Irene got the Eggs Benedict, which was really good, and I got their Norwegian Crepe, a thin soft pastry filled with smoked salmon, onions, lemon, and cream. Their orange juice was fresh squeezed and wholesome. We got a few of their pastries to try. I recommend the chocolate almond croissant (which is probably my favorite), a flaky croissant, crusted with almonds and powdered sugar, and stuffed with soft chocolate. Their fruit danishes are also really good, along with their coconut or chocolate custard twists. Actually… you can’t go wrong with anything from their bakery.. it’s all good.
Atmosphere: Zee Best has the feeling of an outdoor European cafe, with both seating outside under the shade on the patio and indoors as well. The restaurant is located away from the main street, but not completely hidden from it either, giving it an open, yet private relaxed atmosphere.
Service: The service was great when we went.
Food: Zee Best lives up to its name. Specializing in breakfast and baked goods, it’s hard to pass up on Eggs Benedict, fresh-squeezed orange juice, coffee, sweet crepes, and almond croissants, especially when you can get it after noon.
